Joy Company - Competition Teams

The Joy Company Competition Teams offer dancers an incredible opportunity to grow both technically and personally, while also making a meaningful impact in the community. Joy Company is designed to nurture well‑rounded dancers who shine with excellence, character, teamwork, and joy.

Competitions & Performance Opportunities

Joy Company dancers participate in three mandatory competitions each season, with additional optional competitions available for dancers who want to expand their experience. These events give dancers the chance to perform, grow in confidence, and celebrate their hard work alongside their teammates.

Weekly Training & Technique Development

Each Joy Company dancer follows a structured weekly curriculum created to strengthen them technically and artistically. Dancers are placed in classes such as:

• Ballet

• Jazz

• Lyrical/Contemporary

• Hip Hop

This well‑rounded training helps dancers build strong technique, versatility, and performance quality. In addition, all Company dancers attend a weekly Company class, where they work together on team choreography, technical elements, and the values that make Joy Company unique — discipline, unity, encouragement, and joy.

Community Outreach, Service & Leadership

A defining part of Joy Company is our commitment to helping dancers grow not only as artists, but as leaders who serve with joy. Throughout the year, dancers have opportunities to develop skills in service by helping at the studio, supporting younger dancers, and participating in meaningful community events.

Joy Company dancers learn that their gifts extend far beyond the stage. At every competition and convention we attend, our dancers are encouraged to share their love, compassion, and acceptance of others, demonstrating the values that make our program unique. Whether they are cheering on another studio, helping a teammate, or representing DFJ with kindness, our dancers make a difference everywhere they go.
